DAVIS CUP by BNP PARIBAS – Mexico v Barbados – April 6-8, 2012

UPDATE Sunday – Barbados go down 0-5 against Mexico – very tough tie at altitude and on the clay. We will however play in Group II again in 2013 – draw to be made in September.

UPDATE Friday – Darian and Haydn both lose their singles matches in 3 straight sets – they next play the doubles against Gonzalez & Ramirez today at 1pm (2pm Barbados time).

Barbados (Davis Cup ranking 60) take on Mexico (ranked 46) in the semi finals of Americas Zone Group II to be played on the clay courts of the Rafael El Pelon Osuna stadium in Mexico City over the upcoming Easter weekend.

Having beaten Paraguay in the first round held in Barbados in February – Darian King – ATP ranking 745, Haydn Lewis – 766, Seanon Williams and Anthony Marshall again represent the island against the more experienced and higher ranked Mexicans – Daniel Gaza – 326, Miguel Gallardo-Valles – 442, Cesar Ramirez – 541 and Santiago Gonzalez in 4 singles matches and 1 doubles match played over the best of five sets.
