The 2010 U18 ITF Junior Circuit event concluded Saturday at the National Tennis Centre resulting in wins for Kamil Khalil of Lebanon against American Robert Livi in the Boys singles final and 14 year old Belgian Kimberley Zimmermann over Caroline Price also of the USA in the Girls singles.
The #7 seeded Khalil ended his successful tournament against the unseeded Livi with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while the #4 seeded Zimmermann was made to work extremely hard in very blustery conditions against #3 seeded Price winning a lengthy and entertaining match 7-5,4-6, 6-2.
In the Boys U18 doubles, Khalil teamed up with Ismael Sanchez Delfin of Mexico, but lost in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) against Americans Ronald Powell and Trey Strobel.In the Girls equivalent, Caroline Price and partner Daria Sharapova (Belarus) beat the team of Lauren Michael May (USA) and Valeria Salazar (Mexico) in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
In the singles semi-finals, Price had got the better of her doubles partner Daria Sharapova, who was seeded #2, winning 6-0, 6-2, while Zimmermann stunned the #1 seeded Lauren Chypya of Canada 7-5, 6-2 in the other semi-final.
In the U14 events, the Girls singles was won by Antiguan Chassidy King beating Barbadian Melena Lopez 6-0, 6-4 in the final, while Trinidadian Scott Lanser beat Dylan Hall of Barbados 6-3, 7-6 in the Boys singles.
In the U14s doubles, the Girls title went to Chassidy King and Melena Lopez who beat Barbadians Cherise Slocombe and Michaela Batson 6-3, 6-3. Hall and Lanser also teamed up together to win the Boys doubles 6-4, 7-6 against Gavin Hutchinson and Shakir Elvin of Antigua.
The girls and boys consolation singles events were won by Symphony Griffith and Andrew Symmonds both of Barbados.
