We are again preparing to host the Barbados Junior International ITF Championships at the National Tennis Centre and the Barbados Yacht Club running from Saturday March 26 to the scheduled finals day on Friday April 1, 2011.
The tournament, which is held for Under-18 and Under-14 tennis players has full entries in the Under-18 boys’ and girls’ singles main draws, with many more players vying for main draw spots through the qualifying rounds.
There are also 35 boys and 15 girls entered in the Under-14 divisions.
Under-18s qualifying matches will be held on Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27 at the National Tennis Centre and the Under-14s Round Robin will start on Saturday March 26 at the Barbados Yacht Club and continue with knockout matches throughout the week.
The official opening ceremony will be held at the National Tennis Centre before the main draw starts on Monday March 28 at 8.30am.
Apart from locals, players will be coming from the English and Spanish-speaking Caribbean as well as Great Britain, the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, India, Bolivia, Norway, Belgium, Colombia, Ecuador, Poland and Switzerland all hoping to earn ITF ranking points.
Come out to both venues to watch some good tennis next week and to support all the youngsters taking part.
